Wine Bar: Bar del Fico (Navona-Castel Sant’Angelo)
In a tiny piazza behind Piazza Navona, the Rome wine bar sits under a big fig tree. Inside, it’s funky in a good way. Outside, under the tree at night it’s lovely.
Bar del Fico is open from breakfast until the early morning hours, the crowd changes with the time of day, from locals who come to read the paper and play chess, to stylish Romans and young tourists out on the town who come in for pre-or post-dinner drinks, or stop in for a break in the midst of club-hopping. Fountain: Fontana del Nettuno (Navona)
The Fountain of Neptune already called Fountain of Calderai, is a fountain which is located in Piazza Navona, not to be confused with the same name Fountain of Neptune by Giuseppe Valadier in Piazza del Popolo.The fountain was built in 1576 on drawings by Giacomo della Porta, also author of the basin of Fontana del Moro, located at the opposite of the square.
Palace: PALAZZO VEROSPI
Completed by Honorius Longhi in 1610 and restored in the eighteenth century by Alessandro Specchi, in the Loggia some frescoes with ‘Apollo and the gods of Olympus’ by Francesco Albani. The building is currently owned by the Italian Credit Bank.
Palace: PALAZZO PAMPHILJ
Built by James Rainaldi from 1644 to 1650 is now the headquarters of the Brazil Embassy. On the top floor some frescoes by Giacinto Gimignani and students in the Halls of Joseph the Jewish, of Moses, of Roman History, Agostino Tassi in the Hall of the Marine, by Andrea Camassei in the Hall of Bacchus, by Giacinto Brandi in the Hall of Ovid, by Pietro da Cortona in the hall, by Gaspard Dughet in the Hall of the Countries.

Palace: PALAZZO MATTEI DI GIOVE
In mid-1500, the patrician family of Mattei was the owner of the whole isolate between the streets Funari, Caetani, Botteghe Oscure, Paganica. For existing buildings [Piazza Mattei 17-19, Via Paganica 4] was added the other, which started in 1598 by Carlo Maderno for Asdrubale Mattei, now the headquarters of the Library of Modern and Contemporary History. In the Loggia some paintings by Francesco Albani, ‘Dream of Jacob’, Domenichino, ‘Jacob and Rachel at source’, Roncalli, ‘Stories of Joseph Jew’, Giovanni Lanfranco, ‘Stories of Joseph and the wife of Putifarre’, Pietro da Cortona, with ‘Tales of Solomon’.

Rebuilt in 1532-36 by Baldassare Peruzzi, within the halls a loggia with a wooden ceiling with gold and polychrome stucco attributed to Peruzzi or Perin del Vaga. In the hall entrance frieze with ’stories of Fabio Massimo’ by Daniele da Volterra, in the hall of Tapestries decorations by Vaga, author of the frieze with ‘Stories of Eneide’ in the Blue Lounge.
